Safeguarding and Child Protection
At Al Shohub, the safety and well-being of our students are at the heart of everything we do. We are deeply committed to fostering a secure, inclusive, and respectful environment where every student feels valued and supported. Our approach to safeguarding is rooted in kindness, resilience, and collaboration, ensuring that all members of our community work together to uphold a culture of safety and care.
Here are the key measures we take to ensure the safety of our students at Al Shohub:
- Thorough Background Checks: All employees undergo comprehensive police checks upon appointment to ensure they are suitable to work in a school environment.
- Ongoing Training: Every staff member completes essential safeguarding training, including the online courses ‘Safeguarding Young People Level 1.
- Adherence to Safeguarding Policies: We are dedicated to maintaining a school culture where all staff members consistently follow and uphold our safeguarding and child protection policies. This commitment reflects our values of respect and responsibility.
- Expert Safeguarding Leadership: The school is supported by a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and two Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads, all of whom have completed comprehensive Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Officer training. This ensures a high level of expertise and vigilance in keeping our school community safe.
- Secure School Premises: The school is secured by a professional security team stationed at the main entrance, along with two sets of doors that must be passed through to enter the premises. This creates a safe, monitored environment for all students.
- Visitor Protocols: All visitors are required to sign in and present valid identification. They are then escorted by a member of staff throughout their visit, ensuring safety and security for everyone
- Protected Areas: All doors that have direct access to the school features password-protected entrances and exits, ensuring that only authorized employees have access. Our Foundation Stage areas have their own access doors to ensure that our youngest learners get to play and explore in a secure unit.
We believe that a collaborative, inclusive approach to safeguarding creates a resilient and compassionate community where all students can thrive, knowing that they are supported by a network of kind, respectful, and dedicated individuals.
