In celebration of the science festival in Abu Dhabi, Year 4 have made erupting volcanos. We made our volcanoes by gluing newspaper to a plastic bottle and once dried, we painted our volcanoes. Next, we mixed together: white vinegar, water, washing liquid and baking soda together. The mixing of the ingredients caused a chemical reaction to happen where gas was produced. Year 4 were able to explain that the eruption happens because gases move freely; because there is not enough room in the plastic bottle for the gas to spread, it leaves the plastic bottle through the opening at the top which as a result, causes the liquid to rise and the eruption to happen.
